When staying at the Grand Hyatt Jeju on Jeju Island, I initially thought that I would need to arrange special transportation to visit all the famous attractions. But to my surprise, as soon as I stepped out of the hotel and started walking, there were already so many things to do within just a short distance! Let me tell you, the feeling of being able to spend an entire day without even needing a car is truly incredible! Below is a plan for activities that can be done on foot in the vicinity of the Grand Hyatt Jeju. There’s no need to rush; you can enjoy them all at your own pace!

First stop: A stroll along the Seogwipo Coast – right outside the door, you’ll be facing the sea.
The Junyue Hotel is located on the coast of Seogwipo City. It only takes about 5 minutes to walk from the hotel to the coastal promenade. Walking along the shore, you will find the azure waters of southern Jeju on your left and various fishing boats and small docks on your right – the scenery is simply breathtaking no matter what angle you choose to capture it. On clear days, you can even see the distant Seoseom Island in the distance; its silhouette, set against the backdrop of the sea and sky, creates an absolutely stunning view.
This walking path is very easy to walk on, with not many ups and downs, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll after having a coffee in the morning. I recommend visiting it in the early morning or evening when the glow is absolutely beautiful – whether you want to take photos of people or scenery, the lighting is perfect!

Second stop: Tiandiyuan Waterfall – A magnificent waterfall that can be reached in just 15 minutes on foot.
Walking about 15 minutes from the Junyue Hotel, you will arrive at Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, one of Jeju Island’s three most famous waterfalls. With a drop of nearly 22 meters, the pool beneath the waterfall is crystal clear and green, surrounded by subtropical plants – it feels like stepping into a cool and refreshing environment as soon as you enter!
The entrance fee is approximately 2,000 Korean won (about 50 Taiwanese dollars), which is very affordable and definitely worth the price. There is a beautiful walking path in the park, lined with various plants, creating such fresh air that one wants to stay there forever. It’s important to note that drones are prohibited inside, but taking photos is completely allowed – just take a quick snap with your phone, and the results will be stunning!

Third stop: Sigwipo Tourist Port – Take a boat trip to Seoseo Island for a truly relaxing experience.
It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the hotel to Seogwipo Tourist Port. From here, small ferries depart regularly for Seoseom Island, and the journey takes only a few minutes. On the island, visitors can admire the volcanic terrain and natural vegetation. A round trip takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes, making it a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. The ferry tickets are not expensive, costing around 4,000 Korean won per round trip.
There are also many lovely stalls along the shore, selling fresh abalones, seafood, as well as ANEW black pork snacks, special to Jeju Island. It’s absolutely worth browsing and tasting while enjoying the atmosphere—this port has a very down-to-earth, everyday feel, rather than being a typical tourist attraction. It’s actually quite interesting because it gives you the sense of being among the local residents.
Fourth stop: Xinxigui Cultural Street – Enjoy afternoon tea and go shopping all in one!
Walking from the Tourist Port in the direction of the city center, it takes about 10 minutes to reach the old town area of Seogwipo and the Cultural Street. This area is home to many unique cafes, creative small shops, and traditional markets, creating a very relaxed atmosphere. I recommend finding a café with outdoor seating, ordering a Jeju green tea latte, and simply relaxing without doing anything else – the sense of chill is truly indescribable!

Reference for time planning of a one-day itinerary
The following is a simplified schedule that I have compiled after experiencing the entire process myself. The entire journey involves walking and taking short breaks; there is no need to rush at all.
- 🌅 07:30 — Morning walk along the coastal promenade (30 minutes)
- ☕ 08:30 — Return to the hotel for breakfast or enjoy a coffee at a nearby café
- 🌊 10:00 — Tiandiyuan Waterfall (about 1 hour)
- ⛵ 11:30 — West Gwipo Tourist Port; take a boat to Seo Island (about 1.5 hours)
- 🍽️ 13:30 — Seafood lunch by the harbor
- 🛍️ 15:00 – Stroll along the Sigwipo Cultural Street and enjoy some afternoon tea (about 2 hours)
- 🌆 17:30 — Return to the hotel to rest and prepare for dinner
None of the sections in this itinerary require more than 15 minutes of walking time – absolutely chill! If you thought that staying at Junyue meant you would need to rent a car specifically to explore the area, this guide tells you otherwise: it’s completely unnecessary! Just within the walking distance, you can enjoy all the best things that Seogwipo has to offer. Next time I come, I even want to stay for two more days and thoroughly explore every nook and cranny of this place✨
